Guidance on the development of exposure scenarios based on the Chemical Safety Report CSR and on the basis of toxiciological and physico-chemical properties of the substance.

This is a practical guide for developing exposure scenarios (ES) as part of safety data sheets (SDS) for chemicals.

The information on safe handling of the substance in the EU is transmitted using a safety data sheet in accordance with the REACH Regulation. Conditions for safe use and risk management measures for specific uses are described in the annex to the safety data sheet - exposure scenarios.

Exposure scenarios are attached to the extended safety data sheets and are usually the reflection of the exposure scenarios in the chemical safety report, but can be developed independently.

Exposure scenario describes the safe use of the substance under certain conditions, under a certain type of use and contains: descriptors, operational conditions, risk management measures and key initial parameters for further calibration taking into account individual conditions of specific consumer use.
